Mapping Kindness

Although we are slacking as writers, we are yet to slack in our undercover acts of kindness! So much has been going on and building up as of lately and we are so excited to share! So far we have received 3 of the cards from fellow artists who have joined in on our Kindness Project. We are so thankful for the amazing pieces of art we have been given and cant wait until kindness week so that we can get these little beauties out there!

But first, before we get to the goods, I wanted to share the Kindness project map so that you can see who is involved so far. I still have so many emails out there and am awaiting response but if you know of any artists who would like to join in, send 'em our way.

Friday Night Kindness

Sorry A little late, this random act of kindness happened on Friday. My hubby, daughter and I were out for dinner. A local diner. It was very busy,I've never seen it so busy. So I was watching our waitress running from table to table still trying to keep a smile. I thought to my self "She needs to know she is doing a great job." OK I know leave her a good tip,but she needed something else. So my daughter and I made her a card. We left it on the table with her tip. So I hope she got it. This is what Undercover Kindness is about! One person being told that they are important. So lets keep it going pass on your kindness.

Undercover Kindness Strikes Again!

Today the kids and I set out to remind the world that there is hope, love, and yes, that kindness still exists. Part of our adventure was participating in OperationBeautiful.com's quest to remind women of their beauty. They too are doing something quite similar to us, by creating random notes. We were so excited to have had the opportunity to participate!

I hope and pray, that our random notes, hung in random stores as we ventured out to shop today, may have blessed at least one person. If you are that person and are reading this, we would LOVE to hear from you and hear your own personal story about passing the kindness on!

When Kindness and Art Collide

So Wisconsin Mama and I have been thinking. Sometimes that's a dangerous thought we know. With Random Acts of Kindness week rapidly creeping upon us (Feb 15th - 21st), we thought what if....just what if, we crossed Kindness with Art and for one week watched them collide together, in order to change the world, one person at a time?

Yes, we know, this is a BIG ask. A BIG idea. A BIG job for just 2 small people in a BIG world. So as we threw together some ideas and brainstormed a few things that seemed quite impossible, the moment of decision fell upon us. Should we? Should we? Can we? We are just 2 people for crying out loud! And then as we both came to utter silence, with visions of possibilities dancing through our heads, we looked up at each other, with all doubt and the fearful "what ifs" removed we said.....

Yep, Lets do this!!

We are all about really big, almost impossible ideas.

So together we emailed and are still emailing, many people. Many artists. Many really BIG asks.

Here is the concept:
Our wonderful and talented artists who have so kindly accepted the challenge will make 2 cards. These cards will have a positive quote, words of kindness, or a picture. Each card needs only be 3.5 x 5. The size of an index card. One sided. And the words "This is a Random Act of Kindness" on them somewhere.

How this will work:
Each artist will send us one card and keep the 2nd for themselves. Once we receive the cards, they will be showcased on this blog for everyone to see. During Random Acts of Kindness week we will anonymously distribute each card we have received. The second card will be distributed by the artist, from their corner of the world. The artists will then send in pictures or videos of what they did, where they left it, etc, along with a story about their experience. We will also do the same with the cards that they have sent to us, so that they can see where we sent their contribution to this project.

How will this change the world?
Each person effected by these simple, and random acts will be brought hope. The cards are a reminder to smile, to go on when it seems impossible, and to reach out and spread the same message of kindness to others. One by one we will remind the world that there is hope, that kindness brings joy in the midst of an ever darkening world, and show a world, filled with uncertainty, to remember that there is one thing we can be certain of......love. By spreading kindness we also spread love and joy.

So, are you in? Are you able to take a moment to create something beautiful and inspiring in order to help us change our world together? We sure hope so. We need you!

We are looking to find artists in every country in the world. If you so choose to accept this challenge, would you also be willing to recruit a friend? The more the better!

Email us at: undercoverkindness@gmail.com to get involved!!

Passing it on ideas!!

Yesterdays lunch was such a wonderful experience with my best friend in the world, Wisconsin Mama. (See yesterdays post for what she had to say about it.) I am so excited to be doing this with her!

So we have been tossing around some RAK (random acts of kindness) ideas and trying to get really creative. And although we are both very creative and talented, as you can see from yesterdays cards....our "art" thumb may be a little sketchy. lol

We are aware that not everyone is artsy and creative. And with promoting the "Pass it on" idea, we stumbled upon this...

What an excellent site!! You can send a card, personalize it with words and photos if you want and then they will mail it for you! GENIUS!!! All for under the price of a Hallmark card! I can almost hear the angels singing now!!!

We thought this was such a great idea for anyone looking to "pass it on".

Also...

Our new friends over at Operation Nice found some wonderfully creative and inspiring prints from our now favorite etsy shop...Check her store out!! Check out her blog!!

If you have any creative ideas please let us know!
